2023 East Meets West

The East Meets West wine is our way of show­cas­ing how well fruit from the east and west side play togeth­er. Every year we choose lots from both sides that real­ly com­ple­ment each oth­er to make a great final blend.

Vin­tage 2023 was one of the best vin­tages in recent mem­o­ry. The cool long grow­ing sea­son devel­oped deep fla­vors and vari­etal char­ac­ter­is­tics. The many amaz­ing options to choose from made craft­ing this blend a fun chal­lenge. With our Whale Rock Syrah being the typ­i­cal key­stone to the East Meets West blend, we land­ed on a final blend of 36% Syrah, 26% Petite Sir­ah, 22% Bar­bera, and 14% Carig­nane with about 2% Caber­net Sauvi­gnon. The Syrah had some of the best col­or we have ever seen in this vari­ety mak­ing it to be a strong anchor. Petite Sir­ah was blend­ed in for depth with Bar­bera and Carig­nane adding bright­ness to the wine. A com­bi­na­tion of Amer­i­can and French oak helps deliv­er a com­plex yet fun wine with spicy oak notes.
