JULY

Art Show
Heidi Franscioni
Building the Greenhouse
Photographic Encaustic Art

Heidi Franscioni is an interdisciplinary artist whose work focuses on photography with mixed media elements. Current works displayed in this show feature encaustic painting; applying layers of hot molten beeswax onto the surface of her images. In addition to utilizing a photographic underlay in her wax paintings, a variety of other techniques are also used including photo transfers, incising into the wax surface, and the application of oil paint in order to further embellish the surface.

In July, Franscioni will debut a new series of work entitled, Building The Greenhouse.  Franscioni states, “This collection is about my dream of someday building a greenhouse. On a much more rooted level however it reflects our spiritual yearning to create a safe haven of love in our lives, a nest on our planet, and a place of health and beauty. It’s about celebrating the seeds of life and the growth that happens when we nurture our humanity.”

Come join Franscioni for an opening reception on Sunday, July 5th from 1-4pm.   Hors d'oeuvres and of course Dam Fine Wine will also be served.

Inga Swearingen
Vocal alchemist

Bring a picnic lunch, relax in the shade, and enjoy the voice of an angel at this FREE outdoor concert. The Central Coast is incredibly blessed to harbor the talent of this world-class vocalist. Inga Swearingen appears regularly on NPR's "Prairie Home Companion"

From her website: "Inga is an alchemist fusing her luminous and transparent voice with folk jazz elements to create an open, heartfelt spectrum of emotion. Her playful persona shines on rhythmic tunes with uplifting lyrics. “I love making music that allows me to express my gratitude and thanks.” Balancing these joyful rhythms, she explores contemplation and reflection by allowing space to exist in the music.

Inspired by straight ahead jazz and subdued bossa novas to Swedish folk songs and intriguing pop standards, she blends her influences into a beautiful juxtaposition of styles and emotions. Inga tells her story by interpreting and creating exceptional music, leaving an audience feeling like they know her."

This is a rare opportunity to see Inga live here on the Central Coast. Don't miss it!

Peppino D'Agostino
with Michael Manring

Outdoor Concert
in association with SLOFolks

Order Tickets Online or call for reservations! (888.DAM.FINE)

Peppino D'Agostino is a Renaissance man. This is not just because he was born in Italy. Everything about the longtime California resident and his art -- virtuoso acoustic guitarist, composer, singer, teacher and all-around entertainer -- is rooted in his heritage.

It's fitting then that his new CD is titled Made in Italy. It's his first CD release since 2005's Bayshore Road, a collaboration with longtime friend, electric guitarist Stef Burns. "This CD is like a little portrait of Italy," said D'Agostino. "It's my thoughts and personal impressions of my native country. This music is for people who really want to sit down and listen."

Peppino D'Agostino's Website.

Joining Peppino for this show will be world-class bassist Michael Manring. Hailed by many as the world’s leading solo bassist, Michael Manring has been pushing back the boundaries of what’s possible on the bass guitar for decades. While his technical skill and innovations always make an impression, it is his ability to communicate on a profound emotional level that most touches listeners.

Michael Manring's website.

Catering for this show will be provided by Giuseppe's. (Dinner is available at an additional charge.)  Visit the Giuseppe's website.

Concert presented in association with SLOFolks.

His most recent album, "Turning Point" had a sold-out release party here at Castoro, so it's a good idea to make sure you have saved the date!
